Do you have to update a tekkit server?

I am trying to get on my brothers server but ever since the new update i cant. Does he have to update the server or something and if so how does he do it?

That would all depend on the error you are getting if it says something like "You are missing the following mods:" then most likely the server and client versions are mismatched. If that is the case then the easiest way to get on without updating the server is for you to click 'Options' (just below 'Login') on the Technic Launcher and change the mod pack build to whatever server build your brother's server is.

Your post is a bit vague though so I am not sure if that is the problem you are getting.
