Can't Connect to my LOCAL server

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: 1.0.2.0

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 64x

Java Version: 7.0.70.11

Antivirus Program: AVG (But this doesn't matter)

Description of Problem:

Me and a couple of friends thought it would be a cool idea to set up a new Minecraft server and we started playing around with Tekkit (Well, the Technic Pack). So we downloaded the server to my computer, we started up the server and everything was nice and dandy for a couple of days. We were up to 4 players online at the same time and everything worked perfectly.

I connected Localy and my friends connected through the internet, not through Hamachi or anything since we all own our own copy of MInecraft. A couple of days ago though my friend calls me on the phone and asks why the server is so laggy. I checked on it and found that I couldn't even log unto the server because of the latency, I had a LOCAL latency of over 2000/ms and my friends IF they got connection to the server it had over 2500/ms latency.

This happened over night, litteraly. Because I played on the server 03:30 one night, the next morning at ca. 9 o'clock none of us could login to the server. So we started bug testing - Started up a new server, which we all could connect to.

We tried setting the server to offline mode and connect without connection to the internet - It didn't work.

I scoured the forums and tried and tried to find answers to my problems but it seems like I've found myself in a unique situation.

There is ONE thing I could think of, but I don't know if it matters but: We have 14 World Anchors in the world, could it be to much? Could they be draining all the memory out of the server? The thing is, we had the world anchors out and about for three days before the server "crashed".

So please help us fix this, we all love Tekkit and want to continue to build our massive industry.

Error Messages:

I saw this in the log and it freaked me out, the log entires with the [sEVERE] tag is new since the login problem. Now everytime I start the server the [sEVERE] tag entries pop up, and If I check the log, they did not appear until AFTER the problem started.

Also every now and often the server console (And thus the log) recives messages with [WARNING] tag. This is also a new problem, it came with the login and latency issue.

It's a good bug report posting, so I'll move it to the Tekkit Bug Board where it belongs.

Now, there are two things that could have gone wrong, either of which is just as likely:

1) Your server crashed, either by a power cycle or simply a Java error, without saving correctly. You will need to a) load the world from a backup, B) load the world in MCEdit and save over it, accepting that you may have some chunk errors, or c) see about a map repair program if you have no backup or the backup is too old to be of use to you.

2) You have a massive item spill somewhere. This can be cleaned up by an item removal tool like WorldEdit (installed on the server) or a lag-reducing plugin that does it for you. Once the items are gone, you'll need to find out the source of the spill (usually a quarry or pipe (not tube) network) and fix it.

It seems to have worked. Although, atm all my friends are at work/school and my Technic launcher won't connect to minecraft.net so I can't test it out >_<

Although the server seems to have stabilized, all I did was open the world in MCEdit and save it, re-start the server and voila! =)
