Update failed when trying to log in

Description of Problem:

When i try to login to technic (or any of the listed ones like tekkit or vanilla) It says it's downloading the minecraft.jar a few times over and then a window pops up which says Update Failed

Hope I did that right with the log i posted, the launcher_0 file seemed to be a log of every failed update and when i tried to post it, I got the error of post being over 50000 characters. I edited out the parts of the log without the current timestamp of my last attempt. Is that alright?

The Minecraft.net login servers are down.

Is that for everyone? I am, at this moment, logged into the website and I just started up the plain minecraft game and was able to log in just fine

That's what I'm saying. Everybody says that the MC login servers are down.. however, I can log into Vanilla MC via the Vanilla Launcher. So I don't really understand why the "login" servers are down...

I was able to fix this with the advice of another post here. Not sure if a better solution will come along
