Gray Screen After Launch

Description of Problem:

After having issues with the launcher not updating, I followed the instructions included in the Launcher Forum, that worked great! Then upon launching Tekkit, I find that I get a black screen which then flashes with a section of 'colour' (faster than I can see so I can't say what it is) and then just hangs at a grey screen.
