Title: Connection timed out

Version: 3.1.2

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Java Version: 7, Update 7

Description of Problem:

Probably about 5 days ago I was able to connect to my friends tekkit server just fine, I can play the game on Extreme without so much of a problem, Then just randomly, all of a sudden, It's telling me "Internal client error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out:connect", I gave my info to a person I trust, he can login perfectly fine, so that rules out the area I was in, he returned me back to spawn, and still, nothing; Tried deleting tekkit, re downloading everything, deleting cache, restarting router, everything i could think of and still, no luck.

Error Messages:

Internal client error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out:connect

Error Log:

I've tried connecting to other servers, same results, His is a dedicated server and other people can connect just fine, I've tried connecting to vanilla minecraft servers with another computer, it connects just fine, that would mean my internet connection is the one with the problem but, I can play any other online multiplayer game without a problem.

first place to look is any firewalls you have running to make sure they are not blocking it,

i would also suggest loading a server locally on your computer and trying a connection

another thing to try and connecting from a different computer at the place you are having the issues with, if you can connect from a different local pc then you know the problem lies with yours, if you still are unable to connect it may be an issue with your internet and/or router or modem

Downloaded the tekkit launcher in another PC, could connect just fine so obviously the problem is on my PC, not my connection, and specifically with tekkit, I can play Bf3, Borderlands2 or TL2 just fine, checked the firewall, didn't see anything that could be blocking the connection, I'm at my wits end.

If it were something to do with either firewalls or antivirus I would have figured it out already, this makes absolutely no sense and it's pissing me off.

when checking a firewall it is best to just fully disable it and try a connection

are you able to connect using vanilla minecraft or is the problem only with tekkit on that computer?

it may be an issue with java somewhere, you can always try a full reinstall of it

it happened with me as well as him and my Internet in the bottom right is full so I don't think it is my Internet all the other computers are just fine around my house so i've tried turning off my firewall as well so its not firewall I don't really know what to do for this unknown problem. Oh and it works on vanilla mine craft and borderlands 2 and etc. its really pissing me off because all my friends want to do a series and my tekkit dosent work after the update! :L

I believe that icon means your computer has a good connection to your router

However, everything past the router itself can be unstable or ridiculously slow, meaning you can still have terrible connection to people

windows 7 has an icon for recieving a connection to a router or dhcp server, and another one for having an active internet connection

easiest way to determine an unstable connection is to do a ping -t and watch the time, if it has large differences from one result to another or it gets unable to find host you have a problem

also since other things work except this it could be as simple as a error in the host file or the dns cache on the router/modem

Pretty sure that error isn't related to any AV or Firewall

Its just your/his Internet that sucks

Like I said originally, I can play ANY other MP game, Bf3, Borderlands2, you name it, but I still cant get into Tekkit.

And It's a dedicated server, other people play on it, constantly.

Check your firewall.

As. I. Said. Firewall isnt the problem, otherwise I would have figured it out already, tried uninstalling java, reinstalling, nothing still.

Then can you connect to other servers?

Nope, just tried connecting to other tekkit server, same results, Tried connecting to 1.4.2 server on vanilla MC, same thing.

fully remove and reinstall java and then try again

Do you have a router?

I do, the port is open in case you were going to ask that.

fully remove and reinstall java and then try again

Done that, unistalled both versions (32,64) and reinstalled, same results.

For your local IP?

a port does not generally need to be opened for an outgoing connection, and since the op said it worked days before and then stopped it is doutbfull that it is an issue with ports or router, even more since the op is able to connect to server from another computer on the same net

the most possibly problem is something on the ops computer itself, either with the java installation, local windows firewall, or with the host file but since the op has tried to connect to other server and has had the same issue i doubt it would be the host file

OP, clear out your logs for tekkit, try joining a server once then post the log, it might give more insight

after doing some searching on those errors it appears the most likley cause is an issue with IPv6 and java7 prefer to bind to it over IPv4

try disabling IPv6 for your network adapter and make sure its drivers are up to date
