Buildcraft pipes arn't pumping

Hi,

On my externally hosted server with the latest version of tekkit the buildcraft wooden pipes arn't pumping blocks when connected to a chest and a redstone engine. I have tried the exact same set up on my single player tekkit and it works fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
