Title: White screen after pressing "Login"

OS: Mac OS X 10.8.2
Java Version: SE 7
Description of Problem:
When I try to log in after selecting Tekkit and entering username and password, it opens the tekkit screen like normal except it permenantly white screens. I've tried reinstalling, clearing the cache, and even deleting the application support for thechniclauncher and completely re-downloading. My friend fixed it by downgrading his OS but I am afraid I will accidentially wipe my computer clean. I am wondering if that is the only way or if Tekkit only works with SE 6, or if I'm just stupid.
