Tekkit server mods dont work

Setup a tekkit server and loaded it up got a freind to join but we cant use any of the mods they items are their we have reis map works and ability to cheat but when we go to build anything it showsup in crafting screen then goes away or we cheat one in and we crash any help? hope right area dont wanna be banned again
