I double-click on the application and it comes up with an error that reads: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

We need more info to help. what bit is your OS, what bit is you Java? What update version is your Java? Do you have any antivirus or firewalls up? Also, to really help, we need the error log.
