Update failed error upon trying to download any modpack or vanilla.

Description of Problem:

After starting the Technic Launcher and selecting the modpack I want(Technic) and the version I want(6.0.7|MC 1.1) it downloads minecraft.jar 3 times and then says Update Failed. I dont even have any previous versions of this modpack or any modpack. After that I proceeded to unninstalling every version of Java and installing Java 7 Update 9 (64 bit). After doing that I retried the download, same error. I even tried to install vanilla with the launcher and the exact same thing happens.

It appears there is currently an issue with downloading the dev build. Go into options and select the recommended build. That is the only fix that I know of currently.

I'm not trying to download the dev build but I tried the recommended build of technic but it still isn't working.

I have exactly the same problem. Fresh download of launcher no other minecraft or mods installed. Pick any mod and try and download reccomended build. Tries three times and update fails.

Unfortunately, it sounds like there is an issue with the launcher. It was likely caused by the recent release of Minecraft 1.4.5. It would appear it is just a waiting game now. Sorry. If I think of anything/hear of a fix, I will post it here for you.

That would distribute the minecraft.jar file, which is against Mojang TOS and the rules of the site. I am not trying to start an argument regarding legality just pointing out those facts.
