Crashing instantly upon joining a server (fixed)

Question

Posted

Launcher/pack Version: 2.1/2.0

Operating System: Windows XP pro SP3 32 bit

Version of Java: 7_3 windows 32 bit

Description of Problem:

I can play single player technic just fine, but every time I go to join a server, I get a nice little dirt screen immediately, which then goes on to a brief error message that God knows a human would not be able to read in time, followed by an indefinite whitescreen which forces me to close the client. The log says like 40 [severe]s but I don't even know what that's supposed to mean, or why it only applies to connecting to a server. I've also tried to connect to my own tekkit, to no avail.

Tried using the dev build and recommended build, allocating more RAM, etc.

This doesn't work on java 6, so I downloaded Java 7, and it didn't work. Disabling 6 in the control panel did nothing, obviously.

Error Messages: N/A

EDIT: NEW link to pastebin of log: http://pastebin.com/cb8mV0DQ

Re: Crashing instantly upon joining a server

Have you tried renaming your existing Technic installation and re-running the launcher?

To do so, click on the Start Menu, go to Run..., and put in:

%appdata%

Look for the ".techniclauncher" folder and rename it to something else (so the launcher doesn't see it).

Re-run the launcher. It will download the pack from scratch. Now try connecting to a server.

Note that your single-player world save is still in that renamed folder, so you will want to move it to the new installation when you're done.
