Launcher Can Not Authenticate Account

NascarGamer24

Question

Launcher Version: 1.0.2.5

Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit

Java Version: Version 7, Update 9

Antivirus Program: Kaspersky

Description of Problem:

Simple problem: Launcher is not able to authenticate my account with minecraft.net. The normal minecraft launcher can consistently authenticate my account. I have had this issue with both this launcher (hence why I am submitting a bug report here) and with the Magic Launcher.

I have tried solutions I could find online, but they either did not work or were not applicable to my circumstances (e.g. the Java fix with Apple machines). All drivers are up to date, and I have both 32-bit and 64-bit Java up to date. The machine is an Asus G75VW RH71. I have also tried with the firewall/antivirus turned off to no avail.

Seems like MD5 is screwing it up. Honestly though, I'm not quite sure what that is. Or how to change it.

Error Messages:

Unable to authenticate account with minecraft.net

Error Log:

Problem solved. Kaspersky was blocking pretty much everything. Gonna try and figure out how to get the launcher to work with Kaspersky on, but that is not a launcher issue. Thanks!

The launcher should work fine with Kaspersky on as long as you have downloaded the mod pack with it off.

It did work with Kaspersky on my Windows 7 machine. However, this time around I isolated the problem to be Kaspersky. As simple as when I turned Kaspersky off, the launcher connected fine. When I turned it back on, the launcher did not. And with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013, it appears that the setting I need to fix it is not available. So, oh well, lol.

Interesting. Have you tried tweaking the settings so the Kaspersky lets the launcher through?

Yup, even contacted their support department when I had no luck. Kaspersky worked fine on my HP, which had Windows 7 and an older version of Kaspersky. So, something has changed between Windows 7/Kaspersky 2011(I think) and Windows 8/Kaspersky 2013 that is causing an issue. It seems that the setting I need to change is not an available option in Kaspersky Anti-Virus (as opposed to Kaspersky Internet Security).

I have the same problem, unable to autenthicate account with minecraft.net. Works fine with minecraft.exe. I've tried removing the folder from %appdata%, checked java is correct and reinstalled, literally terminated every application and I can (including antivir and firewall) and tried some solution including mineshafter (not sure if I did it right or if it even should help). Nothing helps. Any ideas?

E: Running win7 64-bit and the minecraft I own is legit.

E2: Got it to work by logging via email. I thought you login with the username? Was I wrong? Lulz, works anyways.

If you have a similar problem, you should post your own bug report.
