failure to launch first time

Launcher Version: from main page

Operating System: windows 7 home premium 64-bit

Java Version: 32-bit version 7 update 9

Antivirus Program: AVG

Description of Problem:

the first time i have used technic launcher and it wont even start, i try to run it and doesn't go past the checking launcher version and an error window comes up with "unable to download launcher. please check your internet connection by opening ww.techniclauncher.net in your webbrowser." i tried the site and it comes up with a site like when you miss spell a URL slightly. please help i really want to use it., i have disabled my AV and let it though my firewall

Turn off AVG and redownload.
