Purchased through App store but Mojang doesn't recognize game was purchased

I just purchased Minecraft through the windows app store. I downloaded the launcher and got past logging in (had issues with that one). Now I get an error "This Mojang account has no purchased copies of Minecraft attached." Is there any way around this error?
