Technic launcher crashes after checking launcher version screen

Launcher Version: 3.1.2 rec build

Operating System: Windows Vista, 2GB RAM, 32 Bit

Java Version: Version 7 update 10

Antivirus Program: Norton - switched off

Description of Problem:

I open the launcher from my desktop and it says checking launcher for a few seconds, comes up with the loading sign and then immediately crashes. I had a problem yesterday where it said update failed on all of the modpacks but I reinstalled java and now it does this. When I look in %appdata% the .techniclauncher file is there but it has nothing in it! Thank you anyone who can resolve my problem and merry Christmas everyone!

Try uninstalling Norton? If that fails, try to find and post a log.

Hi thanks,yesterday i deleted and reinstalled java and then it worked. Sorry i didn't read your post. Now It says technic launcher is already open when i try to open it. I even checked on the task manager to see if it was open but it wasn't. Thank you for your help.
