Description of Problem:

I always run minecraft with 7.5 GB of ram. I wish to do the same with tekkit, but the launcher only allows me 4. Selecting 8 doesn't work either, and it resets to four as my computer only has 8 gb of ram. I want to set a more accurate amount of ram.

If your computer has 8 gigs of ram, why would you want to use almost all of it for minecraft. IIRC, reducing that number usually leads to better performance.
