When I click “Play” the launcher quickly disappears, reappears, and then does not let me play

I just downloaded the technic launcher and the new hunger games smp mod pack created by D3ltr1c. I am not very technologically advanced but have done some research on how to do this. Everything I have seen shows minecraft opening after the user clicks “Play”, however, in my case, this doesn’t happen. I have seen that having Java 9,10… doesn’t allow for the launcher to work properly so I have deleted Java 9 and gotten version 8. I also have changed the server settings so that 8GB of RAM can be used. I am on Mac, which is probably part of the problem… but was wondering if there was anything I could do so that I can use this mod pack.
