Launcher.exe is not working

Every time I try to run the Technic launcher it pops up with a window that says "Checking launcher version" then closes and doesn't open again. I don't have Avg or Norton and I have tried the .jar.

I have Windows 7 64 bit, and I updated my java to 64 bit.

Please help!!!

well i have the same problem and im sure if u check ur .techniclauncher file ull find META-INF wich is pretty much whats causing it crash if u delete tht file it will start to download, i dont know if the same thing will happen to you but when i try to run it it loads then it crashes and when i check the file again it copies META-INF and same thing happens all over again
