smithzz Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Please read all of this before jumping to conclusions about the title and suggesting something I've already tried. So I tried to play Voltz and an additional box came up and stayed white, then another additional box came up titled 'Hello'. While this happened, the mod selection/login box did not disappear as it does when I load Tekkit. I have looked over multiple posts on these forums and I have tried what is suggested to MAC users, I have re-installed the mod and the launcher. I have switched files around with other mods and versions to try and see if anything works. I have tried other versions. I have also downloaded the Jar file, I assumed with the Jar file you are supposed to put it with the Voltz files, I took a brief look inside the Jar file for a separate launcher but didn't see one. Correct me if i'm wrong about that btw, I have been trying to fix this for a while and i'm losing hope! Any additional information on this would be helpful. Thanks. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Question. Did it ever actually crash on the white box, or did you get tired of waiting assuming it was frozen and force it to quit? The box is just a white box but it is actually loading FML stuff while that is up. Quote
jnhq Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Same with me i waited for an hour and then quit the program. My tekkit lite also does the same thing! Quote
GreedyTacoThief Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I was also having this problem, i as well tried the MAC user fix to see if it would work and it does nothing. As for myself when launching, two white boxes appear, the one is the client window where the game is played, the other is the window titled "Hello". The boxes stay white for about around a minute before a dialogue box pops up and states that an error has occurred and minecraft may not launch. It is my understanding that the problem lies within NEI but i am not certain. What seemed to fix this was going into the Voltz folder located in the .technicpack folder and removing NEI, launching voltz, letting it crash and then replacing NEI. I have no idea what this did or if it did anything at all but it seemed to work Quote
smithzz Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I left the white box open while I was doing other things for atleast 30 minutes. It doesn't crash. This NEI file, I searched it within the technic folder and there were multiple files with NEI beginning the file name, Should I remove all of these or is there a specific file I should remove? Also, when you say replace the file, do you mean let it replace itself by redownloading something or maybe paste the file back in? Quote
GreedyTacoThief Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Alright so to start, by NEI i mean not enough items, I'll give you instructions on what to do. Okay first, you want to go to the folder .techniclauncher located in the Roaming folder Next inside that folder go into the voltz sub-folder and locate the folder named "coremods" inside that folder will be 2 .jar files, cut the file named NotEnoughItems 1.4.4.0 and paste it to the desktop launch voltz note: it will not work when you launch it, its okay. the two windows will appear like last time, thats okay, close out of the windows and replace the NotEnoughItems file you pasted to your desktop Now you can launch voltz, the two windows will appear like always but the "Hello" window will disappear and Voltz will launch normally Quote
smithzz Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Unfortunately this didn't work, is there maybe something you tried before hand that may have made this method work Like changing some files etc, or is this the first thing you tried? Also, for those who want to try the method above, to find your app folder, open 'run' and type %appdata%, the file will be located there. Quote
GreedyTacoThief Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 um try this too, go into options in the technic launcher and clear the cache, also make sure "always use recommended builds" is selected Quote
smithzz Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 I wasn't able to clear the cache but my Voltz is now working after a random retry, perhaps there was a patch or something, I don't know. However, thank you so much for your help. Quote
Guest Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I have tried EVERYTHING that has been suggested and it just won't work! I'm getting really frustrated GGRRRR HELP!? I am running on Windows 7 if that helps Quote
aHenn Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Hello I felt this issue was worth signing up to this forum for, as I experience an extremely similar problem with it. Description: I am running Ubuntu Linux for my OS, using OpenJDK7 for the Java environment. I got through the initial update error, wherein it decided to work second time round (only change was switching from manual to automatic build in the launcher options). However it still would not start up Voltz, displaying the white screen, plus the second JVM window entitled 'Hello', before finally crashing after a few seconds, displaying a window telling me to consult the log (which I have yet to properly open as the log file is immense and ungainly for my old computer). My current line of thinking is that this error is resultant from it having the current newest build of Minecraft.jar (now 1.4.7), and will soon attempt to install MC 1.2.* or even 1.3.*... However cannot do this right away and felt that putting in this post should broadcast to anyone who may have better insight in to this issue. Thank you for reading this to the end! NB: I had already tried the NEI mod 'fix' mentioned above. Has not worked, but perhaps if the issue is related, I may try another version of NEI. Quote
smithzz Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 I'm no expert on any of this as you can tell by me opening the post. Have you tried the solutions provided in this thread? I know you're on a different operating system but I have read a few posts where people have said the MAC solutions have worked for them on windows. I think it's worth a try if you haven't tried it already. Quote
vsalinas005 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I've done the above suggestions, the first time I encountered the "hello" titled window, it had stated that there was an issue with ForgeModLoader and redirected me to the client text files within the Voltz folder. Though all that says is that your minecraft.jar is bugged, does not exist, launcher couldn't be bothered/bugged out of reading it properly, etc... Maybe get a backup supply of various versions of MC.jar for such a purpose as overwriting the one in the technic folder. Hope that helps. I'm no expert on any of this as you can tell by me opening the post. Have you tried the solutions provided in this thread? I think it's worth a try if you haven't tried it already. Well I tried, but has not worked, and I've been giving a bit of a search around for an older version of NEI (why am I finding this unnecessarily difficult?) Currently working through my log files, of which there are 3... And for some strange reason are taking 20-30mins to load, despite not being that large. Anyway the first one mentioned NEI as the cause for bugging out. Waiting for the second one... all in good time. EDIT: I have got to looking around a bit more, and this thread seems to be the specific bug thread for the problem, so will check up on and post in there in future. Quote
Astro Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I had the same problem, but I fixed it. Can one of you having the problem E-Mail me at [email protected] . I want to make sure that my fix works before I announce it publicly. Sorry for the hassle. D: Quote
