Java out of memory problem

hi there so im using a computer with a 2.83ghz intel core 2 duo processor and 4GB of RAM on Windows 7 64bit. After playing on voltz for a bit i decided to switch back to tekkit classic however since the switch i cant go for more than two minutes without crashing due to being out of memory. Considering ive allocated the launcher 1.5GB of RAM, can someone offer any advice?

Make sure you're launching with the 64bit Java and not the x32, I've had the same problem before. I'm sure there's a guide somewhere on the internet, just google it.
