I got a similar error when installing the Java developer kit. Try this

in CMD type: java -version

if it can't get a java version do the below.

1. Right click Computer

2. Click properties

3. Click "Advanced system settings"

4. Click "Environment Variables"

5. Under system variables, find the Path variable

6. Click edit, and append to the end of the value: ";C:\(insert java.exe path here)"

7. restart the launcher

and you still can't get a java version from CMD?

You could also try googling JavaRa, and telling it to clean all the java stuff out of your system.

Okay, then try using JavaRa to clean it all out, and reinstall java after that.

Ignore that user variable up there, i had a stupid moment.

That path variable that's highlighted is what you should have changed. If you don't have that, it's okay to add it.

So i used the program to clear out everything i could. them i went and uninstalled every version of java i have. I also then reinstated java found the path to the bin and replaced it in the variable you specified. Still no winner...

Okay... Hm...

Oh! did you get both Java 1.5 and Java 1.7?

Sounds counter-intuitive, i know, but it's helped a few people with launcher problems.

Well im not sure where to even find those? Sounds kinda old. Would it help getting the development kit or the run-time environment? (im just shooting ideas)

The runtime environment is what you should be getting. The dev kit won't help.

You can google java 1.5, i don't remember it being too hard to locate.
