Suffocate after /spawn

This might have been already answered but I couldnt find anything when searching!

When I use /spawn to return to my spawn point in Single player Tekkit lite

I often (though not every time) appear beneath the spawn and suffocate in a block.

Is there a glitch that i need to fix or am I the only one?

I have had this too. What I did was set the spawnpoint, by using /setspawn out of the hole, also if you have forge essentials im pretty sure you can do /spawnpoint <playername> to set a player specific spawnpoint for that player.
