"Minecraft has run out of memory"

It happens annoyingly often. Once, i even had to destroy a perfectly good world (well, retrospectively, i probably could've just removed the power converter mod) because minecraft kept running out of memory when it opened.

I just want to know if there's any setting i don<t know about that i can adjust to change this

My current settings are that i'm using the fast graphics, minimal particles, short render distance, max FPS, all to try and diminish it, but it still happens too often.Also, i set in the launcher that the memory it could use was 1 GB, which seemed to be it's max.

Any advice?

I had this same issue once before. Sadly, the only thing that fixed it was loading up an entirely new world.

Did you increase PermaGen? That should allow you to allocate more memory.
