Bad Server Connection, Help?

Hey everyone, I've been trying to set up a server for me and a friend but I seem to be running into an issue. I start up the server from my computer and everything loads fine, but when I go into the game There is a very low connection bar with a ping of 2165ms. This definitely isn't right because I'm running the server from the same computer. I've already allowed the port through my network and opened the ports. Any help? (P.S. I'm running a Tekkit Lite server) Thanks!

Even still, my friend tried connecting and it said the server could not be found. Also even I notice some lag in game when picking up objects and breaking blocks. Any suggestions?

port forward and get a better hosting computer.

Port forwarded correctly and have a very good computer. Turns out it was a silly error on his end. Everything is working now. Thanks.
