Description of Problem:

Try to install tekkit, something happens and it cant find or open files or something like that. Not really sure why this is happening.

I also cant run any of the other modpacks through technic launcher, and Minecraft.exe won't run properly either. I have the latest Java, Windows 7, on a school laptop, that dosn't give me access to any firewalls if that is the problem.

Your user account probably doesn't have the permissions necessary to run or install minecraft. Not much you can do short of violating the 'Technology Use Agreement' or 'User Agreement' or whatever your school has you sign/accept so you can use their laptop.

bump. i'm having the same error in downloading/extracting that particular mod (gregslighting...) tried a myriad of remedies, but none have worked... =[

I am having the same issue but it is on my home computer and i have disabled all the fire wall and AV and still have same issue

Problem Fix:

I will try to explain this as best i can, as i am not an expert.

This is what worked for me so i haven't tested it else where.

I have learned that this is because of the new Minecraft Launcher. For some reason it gets the jars mixed up. So to fix try moving your .minecraft folder to another location (maybe your desktop) and then start minecraft.exe (this will create a new .minecraft folder in roaming) then log in and have minecraft install. For me, i had to delete the tekkit folder and start from scratch but it might be different for you. From there running tekkit from scratch worked.
