How can you put your parachute on ?

Uh, try shift-clicking? Or dragging it to the appropriate place in your inventory?

Or maybe you need a tinker table, or... okay, you lost me.

parachute goes into the chest piece for modular power armor using a tinkerer table, then it will deploy when holding shift while in the air. modular power armor has a gui that allows you to set different hotkeys as well. now sure what you mean but putting the helmet and how it has anything to do with parachutes

If you mean the galacticraft parachute and helmet, you have to be in survival for those slots to show up in your inventory.

I'm in survival and have the inventory slots for the parachute, but it won't equip. I'm sure I made the right one, there are parachute upgrades for MPS and the one for galacticraft, but click and dropping the parachute into the icon doesn't equip it. Guess ill just use my MPS boots to prevent fall damage...
