Taytonos Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I have had Big Dig up and running pretty much since it was an option. I haven't had any issues with lag until the most recent "update" situation. It is about a 5-7 gap between the lag and its for a full 1 second freeze. I went ahead and increased my allocated ram to 4gb and haven't seen any success. I never had to set the allocated before but the research I did showed that as a common fix. Is this common for anyone else? Does someone have a solid fix? Thanks in advance.
zanthious Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 mine is now doing this it worked fine for an hour we logged off to eat come back and now it unplayable. im getting server cant keep up and then java errors on disconnect on something called bouncy castle.
CanVox Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Does your situation improve after a server restart? EDIT: Additionally, what is your java version? Open a command prompt and type java -version and see what it says.
Taytonos Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Yeah Java was my first thought. So I ran an update and it continued. Uninstalled and then put on the most current version. 1.7.21 I believe is the number not sure off top of my head. We have restarted and re-seeded server multiple times but others are not having the issue. My personal belief is that the climb in number of mods is going to cause this for those without that much RAM. Considering most windows will take 1.5gb alone to run.

It should be 1.7.0_21 if you're on windows/linux or 1.6.0_45 if you're on mac.

I would double check using java -version, I've heard a lot of people today running into problems because they upgraded their browser's java, but windows was running something else. One thing I'd ask is, you said you had 4Gb allocated in the cogwheel menu, that memory is 100% earmarked for minecraft, and 2Gb is enough for everyone I've talked to, although to reduce garbage collection, 3Gb runs a little better.
Taytonos Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 I went hardware. I replaced my RAM with some other RAM I had in a different comp and it seems to have resolved the issue as of now. To answer you previous question. Yes both versions of JAVA match up for browser and computer.
zanthious Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 holy hell dude i just got on for like 1 min and there were like 2k chocobos at spawn.... Maybe the chocobos are mad breeding???
