I need help making a tekkit classic server

Hi, I recently went to make a tekkit classic server and after it not working the first time i updated java and it, but now when i go to open the launch.bat it says that java is not openable etc.. when i open the actual the tekkit jar file it creates the files like server porperties and the world but the actual jar window for it doesnt open so it just makes the files and doesnt have the window so I cant control the server.

java 7

windows 8 64bit

I had that problem aswell. My server is hosted on a Linux computer. I had to run it on terminal so I could control the server. So what I'm saying is run it in command prompt

Windows 8 has a problem with Java not being in the command prompt path. Look up a tutorial on how to add it to the path.
