From the beginning......

Hi

Is there a guide somewhere to installing Tekkit from scratch? Let's assume I've got a fresh Windows 8 box. It's got no java on it, no minecraft no tekkit etc. Let's also assume I've no accounts set up on any services e.g. no mojang account, no tekkit account etc.

Can someone point me at the required steps?

Question 1: Have you purchased Minecraft? If not, your first step is to do so.

If you have, these are your steps:

1. Go to www.java.com and install the recommended version of Java 7 for your system. Make sure to download 64 bit java if your OS is 64 bit.
   
2. Next, download the Technic launcher to somewhere accessible like your desktop from here: http://www.technicpack.net/download
   
3. Run the Technic launcher and select Tekkit. Input your (Regular Minecraft) username and password, and hit launch!
