NEI shows tabs, no crafting grid?

Hey guys,

Just booted up Tekkit after a long break away from Minecraft, felt ready for everything thanks to watching ample videos on the subject... but what's with the inventory?

Here's what I expected, and here's what I got.

Noticeably, there's no crafting grid to make your first planks out of wood before the crafting table. Also, the tabs basically allow you to spawn items irrespective of the cheat/recipe/utility setting in NEI. And they clutter up the UI needlessly when the NEI grid on the right already fulfils their role.

Is there any way to disable it and go back to the usual NEI?

Nevermind, scratch that, I'm a noob. Creative mode was enabled on NEI :P

No, that's right. There isn't any crafting any more. You have to find a village with a library to get your first crafting bench.
