I cant seem to change my mode!

Hello. just started to play again, and i realized that i cannot change my mode!( i.e: Recipe,utility, cheat, ect.) I could earlier, and either forgot how or lost the ability to do so. how do i change my mode, and if the ability really is missing, how do i proceed?

Single player? Press [E] then the [Options] button. Change NEI options here. NB: If you change to Creative mode after that you might need to toggle back to normal mode before you can change it again.

Nope, the options button does not show up. its completely missing from my inventory menu. how do i proceed?

Image search for Not Enough Items, find the Options screen.

Hide/Show: O

Press the O key.
