TheBytemaster Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 So I am planning to rent a 5 slot Hexxit server, but I have no idea how much RAMs I should get in order to have Hexxit running smoothly, so...can someone give me some suggestions, please? I wonder would 1GB suffice? (I've never run a dedicated hexxit server, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I may be totally wrong.) Personally, I'd go with at the very very least 2, but I tend to be way more lag-tolerant than most people. From what I've heard, hexxit is very server-heavy with all of the worldgen. Pre-genning the world is a really good way to reduce the load from worldgen. As for the ram, I'd start with two and then upgrade if that proves to not be enough after pre-genning. But remember, RAM isn't the only thing that effects server performance, especially when you are running a pack with so many mods. Make sure to get enough CPU horsepower as well. Quote
Leap717 Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 By any chances, you know any programs that can help generating chunks automatically rather than having me flying around to make chunks generate? Quote
TheBytemaster Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 This is what I've seen most often recommended for that. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/187737-minecraft-land-generator/ Quote
Leap717 Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Lovely, thank you very much! Also if possible, I would like some general tips when managing a server. Quote
TheBytemaster Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 A guide has been posted for some of the setup and things you may want to consider with hexxit already. Here you are. http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/setting-up-a-hexxit-server-fix-crashes-dupe-glitches-griefs-more.50495/ Quote
