haydenhayden011 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I have 4 GB of ram, with 3.5 GB available to use. I don't know what the problem is, I can't play for more than 5 minutes without it messing up on me. I also get weird random spikes of no lag that i can play for 45 seconds. Specs: 32-Bit OS, 32-Bit Java. Nvidia 8600m GT Dual-Core T8300 2.40 GHz 4 GB Ram Quote
TheBytemaster Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 32-bit java can only utilize 1 GB of ram. A fact that we can do nothing about Quote
Nightreaver Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 install 64 bit os, and 64 bit java? Quote
TheBytemaster Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 install 64 bit os, and 64 bit java? If you have hardware that supports that, then yes, that would be an option. Quote

TheBytemaster Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 How would I do that? Uh... It's a tad advanced. You should probably ask your local techie to do this, but you would want to install a dual-boot of 64-bit Linux on your hard drive and run the launcher from that. Oh, and next time you have a problem, please put it in the bug board, instead of here. Quote
Nightreaver Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T8300 (3M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) Intel® 64 - Yes So, its a 64bit processor right? Get Windows 7 64bit... Quote
TheBytemaster Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Get Windows 7 64bit... You could do that if you wanted to pay ~100$ US for it. Might be a bit much to justify for just making minecraft work better though... Quote
Nightreaver Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 there are more advantages of a 64bit OS, and they are useful everywhere, even when not playing Minecraft. Think about ~700MB more ram Here in germany Win7 Pro is about $40 Quote
TheBytemaster Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 there are more advantages of a 64bit OS, and they are useful everywhere, even when not playing Minecraft. Think about ~700MB more ram True. It would also allow you to expand to 8gb of RAM if your hardware supports that. Here in germany Win7 Pro is about $40 What? The full version of Win7? How on earth are you getting it for 40$? Regardless, Linux would be cheaper and depending on your distro, will leave more resources for minecraft anyways, so unless you want to spend some decent cash, I'd go with Linux. Quote
