I would say 25% of mod packs I have installed in technic (all off the technicpack.net site) load without issue. The other 75% will install but when I hit "play" and it loads minecraft it takes forever on the mojang screen, about 2-3 minutes then loads to the menu. Once I try to create a new game it just sits there saying "loading world" and never loads. I can play any version of minecraft standalone fine, and as I said some of the mods will work without an issue. I have re installed java several times and minecraft is the ONLY program installed outside Chrome on windows 7 (clean install). I set this up just for my son to play minecraft, and its very frustrating.

Does anyone else have these types of issues or where to start troubleshooting, I don't even know where to begin.

How much RAM are you giving Minecraft and Technic?

if you don't know how much RAM your computer has, open start and load Control Panel and go to "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System" there you can see how much RAM you PC has.

to edit it in the Default launcher you will need to go to "Edit Profile" and the check the box that says "JVM Arguments" and the change the 1 in

"-Xmx1G" to something more reasonable to the amount of RAM your PC has. If a window titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" and says:

"Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit" appears, that means you need

64bit Java. of your PC is 32bit, one GB is the max.

anyway, to change the amount of RAM in the Technic launcher, click the gear in the top right, and then change the 512MB in Memory to something more reasonable to the amount of RAM your PC has.

TwoTails,

Thank you very much for the detailed help. I am going to go change all of that now and give things a try.
