Can't make casts into anything

When ever I put a blank cast into a stencil table to try to make it into something like a pickaxe head it doesn't work. It doesn't give me the option to stencil a pattern onto it. What am I doing wrong?

Some changes where made and the only cast you can now create in the stencil table is the ingot cast. Every other cast must be manufactured by making a wooden or cobble version of the part, placing it onto the casting table and pouring molten gold or aluminum brass over it.
