Can I add more ram with 32 bit java?

I can't play hexxit due to lag problems I have 3 gb of ram (2.75 usable) but the launcher won't let me add more ram is there any way around this? any help would be appreciated.

In short, no. 32 bit java won't allow you to. If you can, upgrade to 64bit - otherwise, it's a no go.
