Disabling ambient sounds?

Is there any way to turn off ambient sounds? I'm really not a fan of those creepy noises when I'm in a cave. I know in vanilla now they can be disabled in options, but I don't know how to on tekkit.

Ambience is under the "sound" option. There is no way to disable it separately. The wiki page says that ambience might even play with sound and music disabled though.
