Only able to allocate 1gb of memory to launcher

For some reason, I am only able to allocate 1gb of memory to my technic launcher. I have looked at this problem in common issues, but that did not help. I have also looked at several posts about the same issue, none helped at all. Technic was working fine yesterday, but after resetting my computer to factory default to clean it up, all modpacks now lag and I am trying to allocate more memory to try and fix it. Perhaps there is something I forgot to reinstall after resetting my computer? I would appreciate any suggestions.

. My graphics card is nvidia GTX 670

make sure that the version of java you are using is 64bit.

Well, I installed the 64 bit version and now I can set it up to 11 GB so it worked for me.
