Caramel?

So according to some of the spotlights of food plus I've seen, caramel is made from smelting sugar, but that makes sugar charcoal. Is there a recipe conflict preventing caramel from being made or is there some other way of obtaining it?

I am having the exact same issue.  I want to be able to create the Sweet item, but according to the Food Plus mod forum, that requires caramel.  Supposedly, caramel is created by smelting sugar, but as you said, that just creates Sugar Charcoal.  I'm guessing this is because Sugar Charcoal and Caramel have the same recipe.  Does anyone know if there are any plans to fix this issue?
