Problem firing up Nether Portal

Hi

 

I have just recently downloaded Tekkit Classic, and I really like it so far.

Now I got a problem with my nether portal. It wont "fire up".

 

I have tried many setups 4x5, 4x5 without corners, and bigger. When I use my flint and steel, it only makes a fire on the block i used it on. 

 

I hope some of you can help me:)

nether portals are always the same size: 4x5.  are you building it out of obsidian? also it's 4 wide, 5 high in case you were building it sideways on accident.

hah, nah it's not really that big a deal.  everyone's a total noob at some point or another.
