Yes I know, lots of people say this with easy fixes. I've looked through the threads & google searched and have still not found a solution.

I open the .exe. It downloads the latest version of the launcher, creates the .techniclauncher directory, and bam. All set. Of course it doesn't load, but oh well, I'll just open the .jar myself. No big deal.

Open the .jar file, cmd window opens for a half a second, closes, and nothing. Try again? Same result.

What have I done to try and fix the problem you ask? Well Here's a list!

  • [li]Installed Java 7u4[/li]
    [li]Uninstalled All Java[/li]
    [li]Reinstalled Java 7 (5 times)[/li]
[li]Tried "Open With..." using the correct program[/li]
[li]Uninstalling Java, restarting, reinstalling, then restarting again[/li]

So I've done pretty much everything. Spout still works beautifully. Vanilla MC works without a hitch. Even the Tekkit server loads up just fine. It's ONLY the Technic launcher that isn't working.

It was working (kinda) when I was running only Java 6, but not properly. The launcher would open in 32-bit (even though 64-bit of 6 & 7 was installed), I would load the game, would be fine for about 5 seconds, then major lag, freezing, and out of memory issue, thus causing me to close and restart the client. Couldn't even use the client long enough to walk 10 steps. Changing the memory allocation in the options didn't help either.

Lagging was NOT due to the system either. 6-core AMD FX (Bulldozer), 8GB DDR3 RAM, etc.

So... Any help or solutions to this would be nice. I'm at a loss, and that doesn't happen too often.

Launcher/pack Version: Latest 1.0.1.2

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

Version of Java: Java 7 u4 (64-bit)

Description of Problem: See above

Antivirus program: None turned on, but avast is installed.

Error Messages: Ha! I wish.

Link to pastebin of log: Rofl. No logs to be had.

Exactly the same problem here. 64-bit, no antivirus, tried reinstalling Java countless times with different versions. Tried opening the jar file, tried replacing the jar file and opening again, etc.

It really doesn't create a log? I've had the launcher create a log every time it crashes, which your out-of-memory issue would qualify for.

The launcher would not open in 32-bit Java if you don't have 32-bit Java installed. That's not possible. Suggestion: While the Technic launcher is an executable, you could create a .bat file (use any text editor) and add a pause line after running the launcher so you can see what the command window error is. That will hopefully help diagnose the problem a little better.

So (in case you don't know how):

Open Notepad. Type (without quotes) "C:\[launcher location]\TechnicLauncher.exe" and then on a separate line "pause", save as any .bat file, and run it.

Tried it, this is all I got:

Maybe I fucked it up or something, but there doesn't seem to be anything happening there at all

EDIT: I realised afterwards that I had linked straight to the .jar instead of the .exe. But I tried with the .exe and it looked exactly the same except the filename ending with exe.

.exe or .jar, I don't think techniclauncher has a (-) in it...at least mine doesn't.
