Get Java 7. Also, if you are using the .exe launcher, try using the .jar launcher instead, which works better for some people on 32-bit systems.

I see you have 64-bit listed there, though. Check your Java environment variables (the PATH) to make sure it's using the 64 before the 32. Better yet, just uninstall the 32.

I have tried both java 7 32bit and 64 bit still doesn't work, also the .jar doesn't work also it says windows cannot open, and gives me the option of choosing a program or finding one off the web.

What on earth did you install both for, you silly plonker >/)<

Check what 'bit' your operating system is on, go grab the appropriate Java version after cleaning out the muck, just use the good 'ol .exe launcher and report back here, private.

You need one (1) Java. If your OS is 64-bit, you need Java 7 64-bit. If your OS is 32-bit, you need Java 7 32-bit. Uninstall all other Javas.

I am pretty sure it doesn't have to do with something about java, because I could do launch it on a laptop that only had java 6.

There is more than enough anecdotal evidence already given throughout this forum to make you sure of no such thing. You may try using Java 6 until you're blue in the face, and if you get it working, then congratulations, but most of the people here will simply say "install Java 7 if you have issues" because that is known in many cases to eliminate common issues.

Refusing to use an available known possible fix is not a good way to progress toward a solution, nor even to properly diagnosing the problem.

Don't bother with them this problem is popping up a lot with new users (like myself) and nothing seems to help. I've kept an eye out for a solution for it but everyone who has it seems to be like "whatever" and simply keeps stating the same fixes such as get Java 7, disable firewalls and antivirus and try again, etc. I have the same problem with running the exe and jar.

Right now I got it working when a moderator said to "hit start, type cmd in the search, run it, type in 'cd %appdata%\.techniclauncher'(minus the apostrophies of course), press Enter, type in 'java -jar technic-launcher.jar' (minus the ' again).

For me it launches it fine though it's an annoying process to go through and was originally meant as a way to see the error message that shows when I try to open the .jar file with JRE 7 / Java SE Binary Platform (Basically Java 7) and get just an cmd window flash.

THANK YOU!

This worked for me just the second line

java -jar technic-launcher.jar

I had to do 'java -jar technic-launcher-latest.jar'

at least for the first time I did it in cmd

So now I think it works

If you're using Windows, just set .jar files to open with Java Platform SE Binary, and you can double-click the .jar file.

Did that it flashes the cmd black window with something like Error: Could not find or load (file destination).

The second line is different probably because you're using the downloaded jar I used the one the .exe puts in the folder.

The .jar you download from the front page and the .jar it puts in the .techniclauncher folder are different things, so it would make a difference which one you run, yes.

Possibly except they both reacted the same with I did Open With Java SE Binary Platform (located in the JRE7 folder) So *shrugs and continues to do it the long way that works*
