Update the launcher for certain servers?

I just started using this and I have the JAC Gaming pokemon mod pack (the one with the gangnam style pikachu) and I can't seem to join specific servers, I sometimes see a red x over the connection box with 1.7.6 on it, but I don't know how to fix this. Please help.

That 1.7.6 is the minecraft version. If that isn't even matched up, then it complains because of the protocol differences and the inability to join because of it.
