JDK 7 screwing with my tekkit client but helping my server?

So i can't start up my tekkit server without JDK 7 being turned on, of course, how ever trying to start my client with it on gets me no where. i click log in and it instantly crashes. so i turn JDK 7 off and try again, no server but client works just fine. and yes i have already tried opening the client before the server. it seems as though JDK is screwing with my client somehow but i need it for my server =/ any ideas?

P.S. I do have a mac lion osx

Second: JDK is not JRE. JDK is the java developer's kit which you write programs in. JRE is the java runtime environment that you load programs in. You need JRE to run Java apps. If you spent ten seconds reading the website rather than clicking the first download link you see on a page you would probably have known that.
