Going crazy! Single player "internet lag" problem!

So I got Big Dig and it runs good without any lag on my computer. But every 5-10 minutes or so I get like 'internet lag'. On single player.  For example i'm mining and the block destroys but nothing drops, destroy a torch it doesn't drop, then 2-3 minutes the blocks / torches etc all fall and  I can pick them up. Same goes with opening chests, furnaces etc. I tried turning off my internet just for fun, no difference. Hopping somebody can help me it's driving me insane.
