Redpower Filters and Sorting

Okay so I got a filter set up next to my chest and then into a sorting machine. but the UI on the filter keeps filling up with blocks which seems to cause it to jam and not pull items from the chest, if you clear out the UI for the filter it starts going again. is that supposed to happen or what am I doing wrong here? oh and this is SMP just to make sure.

If the sorter doesn't have a filter for the items pulled by the filter then they will jam up the system. Make sure everything coming out of the chest is represented in the sorter, or use the last sort setting to pass on anything not in the sorter UI.

I have the sorter set up properly but the filter machine pulling stuff from the chest tends to fill up and stop pulling. even tried the one without the filter UI and it still does it.

Are you sure its the filter thats jammed up and not the sorter? disconnect the output pipe from the sorter and see if it spits anything out.
