  1. Hey, I'm meant to be the casual racist around here.

Anywho, if for some insane reason you don't click on Neowulf's link,

then a quick google search will yield you the perfect result every time. But I am not going to do that for you, babushka.

  2. Gonna need your OS, dude.

Looks like Forge is crying in pain, but the rest of the log will confirm that.

Get this error again, and put the entire log into a site like pastebin.

Also for future reference, do not use AVG. It's pure evil, and will have you crawling back here with another problem.

There are plenty of other free alternatives, but don't use Bullguard. Because that's spyware.

  3. You managed to break about fifty million rules just by creating this post.

You see we don't encourage apologies. They solve nothing.

Only self sacrifice and dedication to right the wrongs you have done will banish you of your afflictions.

Also, read the fucking rules already.

  4. Spelunking.

I only mine stuff that's on the walls, floors and ceilings of caves.

Once I'm at the stage of automating, it's RP2 all the way, with a tunnel bore at one above bedrock level.

Actually, if I'm feeling like a bag of dicks, I'll build an airship that uses BuildCraft miners.

IC2 Solar Arrays into Power Converters make the miners dig and an incredible speed; much faster than a quarry.

But the mess is enormous. Like, painfully bad for the environment.

  5. My dad was a keen gamer up until the point when I started playing them myself :D

He was very restrictive, but he knew what he was on about. Certain games really have a chance to scar you if you're too young to play them.

It seems ridiculous to anyone reading it, but really think about the effects a game like say Silent Hill 2 would have as you lower the age down from 13.

But TF2? I know there's a lot of gibs, but this seems somewhat convoluted given the art style...

Have you got family coming around? Ya know, the sort that "will not approve"?

  6. Iand if the reactor makes the water glow it means there are charged particles going about in there

Charge isn't blue. The reason the water in the reactor glows is because the Beta radiation emitted is moving through the water at about 75% of the speed of light in a vacuum, which is actually faster than the speed of light in water (This is what Cherenkov was observing afaik). Rayleigh scattering makes the light emitted at the lower end of the EM spectrum, hence the blue glow.

EDIT: But for fucks sake, do not ask me why it isn't purple. I haven't taken a physics degree. I doubt even people with degrees would be able to tell you.

  7. Aren't beta particles electrons, and as such will shy away from molecules that aren't "missing" one? Or are they just too high-powered in this case to give a crap about their charge?

Puny particle radiation aside, what about gamma radiation then? It is a reactor after all.

Correction. Beta particles can be electrons or positrons and either get repelled, or ionise the molecules they hit.

You should know that gamma radiation is not strictly matter, and thus the probability of interaction is nothing to do with the 'amount' of radiation.

It is in fact proportional to thickness, density and absorbent cross sectional area. (the surface area of the object facing the source)

Although there are more ways for gamma radiation to ionise(Photoelecrtic effect, compton scattering, and the other one I always forget), it is less ionising than beta.

  8. Correction. We don't use modems unless we're on a cable service. Down the phone line, we're on Digital Subscriber Line Routers.

Modems (modulater/demodulator) work with analogue signals. Dunno about cable services myself, but I know they're called modems.

Then again, there's probably dozens of variations on the term, plus differences in the way ISPs work in the different countries we belong to.
