      I think there's something special you have to do. You can't upload gifs.

      animated avatars are terrible anyway. for every 1 decent one, there will be 50 3d rotating skull gifs from some 1990 geocities page.

      Good point. I'll try and play with the format and such, but It's probably good that the barrier of entry for an animated avatar is more than just having a properly compressed .gif
