  1. On a not totally unrelated note, I'd rather the quarry somehow mined the lava intact, so that I could use it at my discretion later. Sort of like what the IC Miner/Pump combo is doing.
  2. It all basically depends on the machine that you are running the server on. A reasonable gaming rig, even a bit dated (gaming computer years relate to human years at about 1:30), can support dozens (hundreds?) of chunk loaders without breaking a sweat, when running a server (and a client). If, however, you are using a computer from the 1990s, and run both server and client on the same machine, and put down chunk loaders for a reason (to keep a complex processing plant going), then you are in trouble, yes. Although I'd guess that in this case the major contributor to the lag would be the electric/piping systems of the processing plant.
  3. Thanks. I'll try it if it doesn't work in 2.1.1 That's the whole idea, actually. To keep machines going. You leave a solar-powered quarry on overnight, and have a bunch of processed materials the next day. But it goes a bit further (and a bit worse) than that. When Buildcraft pipes cross the chunk boundary, and one of the chunks gets unloaded, the pipes continue working, only now they simply dump stuff on the ground (as the pipe on the boundary does not have a further pipe to send items to). That is really annoying. I know, I know, BC pipes are not considered cool, and RP tubes are probably much cooler, but I have an existing system with little desire to redesign it (at least not until the quarry finishes). I'd rather have an ability to use a ChunkLoader of some sorts and switch it off manually than have no ability at all.
  4. Launcher/pack Version: Tekkit 2.1 (the server is working on the same PC as the client) Operating System: Win7 64 Version of Java: 7 Description of Problem: When trying to craft teleport pipes in the crafting table, the result appears for a split second, then disappears. Looks like the client wants to create, but the server overrides the intention. (If I start the same client in SSP, the teleport pipes are created fine, although I haven't tested the functionality.) Similarly, ChunkLoader cannot be created. This time, however, I am unable to craft it in SSP either.
  5. So, has Tekkit 2 finally got the teleport pipes and ChunkLoaders?
  6. I think you may have one of the basic assumptions wrong. Tekkit server does NOT need minecraft_server.jar of any version, as it is a server in itself (namely, Bukkit). As such, you don't run the minecraft_server.jar, or even place it anywhere near the Tekkit server installation at all. You just unzip the Tekkit server somewhere, and run the conveniently provided launch.bat
  7. Yes, but your basic BC pipe is constructed with cobble and glass, both easily renewable resources (considering how cobble macerates into sand), while tubes use bronze, making the entry price waaaay higher for a system of any notable complexity. :-\ Basically, having just two diamonds (for the sorting pipes) you can build quite a complex plant. Add gold for speed. With RP tubes, you need two gold for EVERY filter, so logistically you need up to 8 gold to emulate one diamond BC pipe. 2 diamonds for 8 sorting pipes in BC vs 16 gold for RP tubes. Given the much higher demand for gold (at least in my experience), that is not a good comparison. Plus all of the points offered by MechaCrash above (liquids and machinery compatibility).
