I would recommand spawner, I don't think any of them can even survive for one day once a tainted villager comes up, though villagers with improved AI can have a good handle on zombies, they will still think of a tainted villager as one of thier friend.

Starter for redpower? I would suggest that firstly have a read through the Redpower wiki, And once you are back, try to make some simple designs with redpower, sorting system for example.remember you always have us on the forum ready to help.

Yes, redpower can replace pretty much everything buildcraft has except the filler and the builder. Though redpower qurries is not just a simple block, it's a complicated design with moving frames and block breakers. For any starters I would suggest keep using the buildcraft one.
Redpower tube is defnitely better, it doesn't create lag issues, or drop items, item transport is relatively faster, easy to sort.

For me, server administrative/backbone wise -0 (Don't know anything about servers)
For me, in-game wise - 8.5-9.5 (Absolute idiot at computercraft, though.)

Is there going to be actrul villagers in the village? Once the villagers are tainted, they can be pretty dangerous. (like zombie infection)

Red matter armor gives you 90%, in that sence gem armor should give you pretty much 100%

Try to use a restriction tube to prevent anything flowing down that way unless there's no alternative path.

Acording to the wiki: Place a filter or transposer above the crafting table facing down. Apply a redstone signal to this to extract the crafted item.

Also note that items like buckets can be extracted from the buttom.

I thought Mk2 crafting tables only outputs from the top.

You could probably transmute it.
Wouldn't work, still need to find the first piece of them.
Or you create a Alchemist tome, but by that time you don't even need them anymore.

Well, I have no clue what's wrong then.
But for all that, why not use redpower lamps? They are much simpler to setup, don't need energy, and has multiple colors.

I thought that a few seconds of white screen after black screen was normal.
But if you really are having trouble, the last solution will be reinstall the launcher.
